FlexMonkey 1.0 was released today by Gorilla Logic. FlexMonkey is an open source tool enabling visual testing of Adobe Flex Rich Internet Applications (RIAs). FlexMonkey can record user actions taken on a Flex UI (button clicks, typing, navigation, etc.). Along the way, the user can indicate assertion / validation information at desired points to test whether the UI has responded as expected. Then, FlexMonkey can playback the tests and report on the passage / failure of the assertions imbedded in the tests. This enables automated regression testing of a Flex User Interface.

FlexMonkey has been designed to integrate with FlexBuilder and FlexUnit. It is available as a free download at http://flexmonkey.gorillalogic.com/. Gorilla Logic also offers training and testing services. Information about these services can be explored at http://www.gorillalogic.com/what.development.services.flex.html.

Gorilla Logic announces Enterprise Flex Practice.

Posted in Gorilla Logic on February 16th, 2009 by admin

Flex has definitely taken the web and UI worlds by storm. We are also seeing that the demand for Flex talent is exceeding supply which is good news for Adobe, but not so good for companies looking to get serious about Flex who need experienced people.

Gorilla Logic is answering the call by setting up a dedicated Flex Practice in order to focus all of the “Flexpertise” we’ve amassed into something valuable for the Flex community. Headed up by Jon Rose , the Gorilla Enterprise Flex Practice will be the go to place for Enterprise Flex expertise. Jon will be the Director of the Gorilla Enterprise Flex practice and is well known in the Flex community and most recently for his “Drunk On Software” podcasts. He is also an Editor for InfoQ.com. All of Jon’s blog entries are available on our Gorilla Blog as well.
We’ve already released our Flex Monkey tool to the open source community with a great response. We are in the process of doing the same for our GXE technology, which will be renamed OpenGXE. Between the two, Enterprises can enjoy automated testing, rapid prototyping, and Continuous Integration with the Flex platform.
Gorilla Logic is doubling down on Flex as a technology and expecting our Enterprise Flex Practice to raise the bar on what Enterprises can expect from what is already a sexy edition to the technology arsenal.

Posted in Gorilla Logic on February 5th, 2009 by admin

The NBC Today Show unveiled it’s “What’s You iCue?” Facebook application. NBC’s iCue.com site is focused on delivering educational content. iCue is an ackronym for Immerse, Connect, Understand, Excel.

The “What’s Your iCue?” Facebook application is a news trivia game that is supplemented with video footage from the NBC News archives that includes video of current events and of those dating all the back to 1920s. You can run the application right within Facebook and play against your friends.
Below is the footage from the NBC Today Show. What you don’t hear about (quite expectedly) is that Gorilla Logic was the company that NBC chose to build the application. So, if you like what you see, or are looking to tap into the Social Network, give us a shout.

NBC’s iCue recently got social on Facebook by launching their first ever Facebook application. It leverages NBC’s vast news content in a trivia type game for all ages. You can find one of many articles on the topic here.

Gorilla Logic was the company that NBC tapped to build the Facebook application, however that isn’t mentioned in the article. Oh well, that’s how the banana peels sometimes.
If you’re on Facebook, download the app here and check it out! It’s actually pretty cool. If you’re not on Facebook….. Why not?
